The Chargers Volleyball family is proudly celebrating the remarkable performance of Faith Gibson and Philisha Burnette, who represented Antigua and Barbuda with distinction at the 2026 ECVA U20 Beach Volleyball Championship in St. Kitts, finishing an impressive 5th out of 14 teams from across the Eastern Caribbean.

The result places the young Antiguan and Barbudan pair among the top teams in the region and is another significant milestone in the continued growth of both the athletes and the Chargers Volleyball development programme.

After entering the tournament with confidence, Faith and Philisha produced an outstanding performance during pool play, defeating teams from St. Kitts and Nevis and St. Eustatius in straight sets to advance undefeated to the quarterfinals. Their teamwork, determination, communication, and composure reflected disciplined preparation and the strong foundation that continues to be built within the Chargers programme.

Although their journey ended in the quarterfinals against a talented St. Kitts and Nevis team, the experience gained competing against some of the region’s best young athletes will prove invaluable as they continue their volleyball careers.

The achievement is particularly noteworthy considering the experience of the two athletes. This was Faith Gibson’s first international beach volleyball championship, while it was only Philisha Burnette’s second appearance on the regional beach volleyball stage. To finish among the top five teams under those circumstances speaks volumes about their athletic ability, character, and willingness to learn.

Chargers Volleyball also extends heartfelt congratulations to Coach Rosemarie Simon, who served not only as the athletes’ club coach but also as Antigua and Barbuda’s national coach for the championship. Coach Simon’s commitment to developing young athletes continues to produce results both locally and internationally.

Her patient instruction, technical expertise, and unwavering belief in her athletes have helped create an environment where young people are encouraged to challenge themselves, compete with confidence, and represent their country with pride. This latest achievement is another reflection of her dedication to athlete development and to raising the standard of volleyball in Antigua and Barbuda.

The club also recognizes the many individuals who work tirelessly behind the scenes. Parents, volunteers, assistant coaches, supporters, administrators, sponsors, and teammates all play an important role in creating opportunities for young athletes to succeed. Every training session, fundraiser, act of encouragement, and sacrifice contributes to moments like these.

For Chargers Volleyball, this tournament represents more than a fifth-place finish. It confirms that the club’s philosophy of long-term athlete development is producing players capable of competing with the best in the Eastern Caribbean.

The work, however, is far from complete.

Building on this performance, Chargers Volleyball will continue expanding its beach volleyball programme with increased emphasis on technical development, tactical awareness, physical conditioning, mental resilience, and international competition. Athletes will participate in regular beach training sessions designed specifically to improve ball control, defensive movement, serving consistency, attacking options, communication, and decision-making under pressure.

The club also intends to increase participation in regional tournaments, training camps, and exchange programmes, ensuring that its athletes gain the experience necessary to compete consistently for medals at future ECVA, Caribbean, and international competitions.

Beach volleyball has become an important pathway for athletic and personal development, and Chargers Volleyball is committed to providing more young people with opportunities to experience the sport while proudly representing Antigua and Barbuda.

As Faith and Philisha return home, they do so not simply as competitors, but as ambassadors for the next generation of Antiguan and Barbudan volleyball players. Their dedication, courage, and sportsmanship have inspired younger athletes throughout the Chargers family and demonstrated what can be achieved through commitment, teamwork, and perseverance.

The entire Chargers Volleyball organization congratulates Faith Gibson and Philisha Burnette on an outstanding championship. You have represented your club, your families, your coaches, and your country with honour and distinction.

This is not the end of the journey—it is the beginning of even greater accomplishments. Chargers Volleyball stands proudly behind you as we continue working together to build stronger athletes, stronger teams, and a stronger future for beach volleyball in Antigua and Barbuda.

Proud Performance.
Bright Future.
