Jojo’s Birthday Glow Walk a Heartfelt Tribute for Beloved Broadcaster Paul Quinn

St. John’s, Antigua – As Jojo continued his birthday celebration for this year he took some time to celebrate a beloved friend and radio host who contributed to the media landscape touching the lives of many on the Antiguan and Barbudan airwaves.

On Saturday evening at approximately 6:30 p.m., Joseph “Jojo” Apparicio, the charismatic host of the Good Morning Jojo Sports Show, marked his birthday in truly unforgettable fashion — by leading his annual charity walk in honor of his friend and media titan, Paul Quinn, former cohost of Voice of the People, who suffered a debilitating stroke last year.

A Walk Filled With Love, Music, and Memory

The walk, which began and ended at the Yasco Sports Complex, drew a moving crowd of family, friends, fans, and well-wishers, many of whom had worked alongside or been touched by Paul Quinn’s commanding voice and relentless commitment to public discourse.

In true Paul Quinn fashion, the procession was musically charged, with music blasting classic calypso tunes — a nod to Paul’s famously eclectic taste in Caribbean rhythms. The streets of St. John’s pulsed with music, laughter, and solemn remembrance and support.

A Powerful Opening by Dr. Jackie Quinn

The event opened with a soul-stirring prayer from none other than Dr. Jacqui Quinn, Paul’s sister and a media force in her own right. Her words ignited the gathering with emotional energy, blending grief, gratitude, and resilience. “We walk today not just for Paul, but for every individual and family going through this type of ordeal,” she declared.

A Stop at Observer Radio — A Voice Remembered

Midway through the procession, the crowd paused in reverent reflection outside the Redcliff Street office of Observer Radio the station where Paul Quinn made his mark as a fearless broadcaster.

Fundraising with Heart

All funds raised during the walk will be donated to Sherry-Ann Evanson-Quinn, Paul’s devoted wife, in support of his ongoing care and medical needs. Donations continued to pour in throughout the evening, with community members pledging not just money, but solidarity and support.

Jojo: “We Walk for Paul. We Walk for Purpose.”

Speaking to the crowd before the walk, an emotional Joseph Jojo Apparicio reflected on
his friend:

“Paul gave us his voice. Today, we gave him our footsteps. He may not be behind the mic right now, but his spirit is louder than ever.”

In a time when divisions often dominate the headlines, this evening walk proved one powerful truth: community, compassion, and calypso can still unite people.
